Here’s part 1 of a new video series keeping you up-to-date on the progress with the overhaul of our S&D 7F No. 53808.
S&DRT Chairman Roger Hardingham presents on the preparatory work prior to the lifting of the tender water tank. Already, it can be seen that there is much work to be done due to corrosion under the tank and more will be revealed when the tank is lifted.

In addition to the video, here are some more photos taken by Roger O’Neil, a volunteer working on the engine at Ropley. Captured on Friday 14 March, 53808 is seen minus the tender which has now moved inside the works. Roger says that the recent focus has, naturally, been the return to service of Canadian Pacific but attention will now revert to other locomotives.
