Description

BR Standard Class 4 No. 75023 (built 1953, with 82G Templecombe shedplate) and Bulleid West Country Class No. 34043 Combe Martin (built 1946) on the Down (Bournemouth-bound) Pines Express emerging from the Chilcompton Tunnels and with Chilcompton station some way ahead.

Notice that while 75023 carries the Pines Express headboard, the reporting code disc [which would be 1O95] can just be seen on 34043.

75023 is shown as allocated to Templecombe from September/October 1961 until September/October 1962 and withdrawn in January 1966 – this may provide a date range for the image. 34043 was withdrawn in June 1963.
