Description

BR Standard Class 4 No. 75023 (built 1953, with 82G Templecombe shedplate) and Bulleid West Country Class No. 34042 Dorchester (built 1948) are approaching the twin bores of Chilcompton Tunnel with a Down Pines Express of at least 10 carriages. The reporting number of 1O95 is being displayed on a disc covering 75023’s number plate.

Just ahead of the train is the infilled cutting that presents a major obstacle to further progress in the Chilcompton direction by the S&D at Midsomer Norton.

75023 is shown as allocated to Templecombe from September/October 1961 until September/October 1962 and withdrawn in January 1966. 34042 was allocated to Bournemouth at the time.
