Description

BR Standard Class 9F No. 92006 (built 1954, with 82F Bath Green Park shedplate) heads the 1O91 7.35 am (SO) Nottingham to Bournemouth service towards the twin bores of Chilcompton Tunnel in 1961. The train, with a wide variety of carriage designs, is seen just short of the preceding cutting. The cutting was subsequently completely infilled and presents a major obstacle for the S&D at Midsomer Norton, whose running line stops at the foot of the infill.

In the background of the high res. image, the Midsomer Norton South Up Distant signal can be seen (this has been recreated by the S&D at MSN alongside their single track running line). A platelayers’ hut and what is possibly a fogman’s hut can be seen on the photographer’s side of the signal.

92006 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park from June/July to September/October 1961.
