Description

BR Standard Class 5 No. 73050 (built 1954) heads a Down through service near Corfe Mullen. At the time of the photo, 73050 was missing its shedplate but since WSHSD_2022_14_343 was apparently taken with the camera in the exact same position, this suggests 1961 for this photo.

This is on the single-track line between Broadstone and Corfe Mullen Junction that was built in the 1880s to avoid the need for S&D traffic to reverse at Wimborne.

73050 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park from new until July-August 1962 and from November 1962 until March/April 1964.
The SLS data shows the loco as having been withdrawn at that point, then swiftly reinstated at another location.
