Description
BR Standard Class 3 No. 82039 (built Swindon 1955) is heading south east over Fiddleford bridge – built for double track – with a Down passenger service having two carriages in 1959.
Two workers are visible – their clothing suggests warm weather – and the door of the nearby concrete platelayers’ hut is open. In the distance can be seen the Up distant signal for Sturminster Newton as well as the rise in the track as it begins to climb at 1 in 80.
82039 is shown as being allocated to Templecombe from January/February 1959 until August/September 1960.
