Description

Bulleid West Country Class No. 34042 Dorchester (built 1948, with 71B Bournemouth shedplate) is at the head of a passenger train of six carriages on the long curve between Milldown and France Farm. A reporting number of 389 is being displayed. There is currently no date available for this image.

The photo was taken in challenging lighting conditions; the image is two scans which have been HDR-combined.

34042 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park for a while in 1951, then moved to Bournemouth before returning to Bath in December 1951 until autumn 1954. The loco was withdrawn in September/October 1965.
