Description

Fowler 2P Class No. 40569 (built 1928, with 82G Templecombe shedplate) and BR Standard Class 9F No. 92000 (built 1954) pass Masbury Halt with the Pines Express Bournemouth-Manchester service of at least 12 carriages on the way up to Masbury summit, about half a mile ahead. There is no date currently available for this image but the loco allocation strongly suggest that the photo was taken in 1961.

A gradient post, showing the temporary slackening off of the 1 in 50 up to 1 in 300 through the station can be seen. 16-ton wagon No. B127157 is in the yard

40569 is shown as already allocated to Bath Green Park upon nationalisation in 1948 and remaining either there or at Templecombe until withdrawal in November 1961. 92000 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park from May/June to September/October 1961.
