Fowler 4F Class No. 44417 (built 1927, with 71H Templecombe shedplate) and Bulleid West Country Class No. 34108 Wincanton (built 1950) on the Down Pines Express, approaching Masbury summit, on Saturday 3 August 1957.

44417 is displaying a reporting number with the last two digits being ’20’.

44417 is shown as already allocated to Templecombe at nationalisation in 1948 and remaining there until withdrawn in November 1962. 34108 is shown as allocated to Bournemouth from new until February 1958, Exmouth Junction until October 1963 and then to Salisbury until withdrawal in June 1967.
