Description
On a dull, damp April morning, Fowler S&D 7F No. 53810 (built 1925 as S&D No. 90, with 82F Bath Green Park shedplate) leads a goods service just short of Masbury summit with 3F No. 47275 banking at the rear. Usually, the banker would drop off at Masbury summit and return ‘wrong-road’ to Binegar, protected by possession of the ‘banking staff’ issued by the signalman.
53810 is shown as already allocated to Bath Green Park at the time of nationalisation in 1948 and remaining there until withdrawal in late 1963. 47275 was withdrawn in March 1962 so this suggests April 1960 or 1961 for the photo.
