Description

Bulleid West Country Class No. 34041 Wilton (built 1946, with 71B Bournemouth shedplate) heads a Down through service with a reporting code disc of 1O96 being displayed.

The Midford Up Distant signal is nearby but is obscured by the carriages. Note two chairs in the foreground where the wooden keys have fallen out.

34041 is shown as being allocated to Bournemouth from mid-1956 until autumn 1964 – the loco accordingly can be seen with a 71B shedplate, though was recoded in 1963.
