Description

BR Standard Class 4 No. 75023 (built 1953, with 82G Templecombe shedplate) and BR Standard Class 5 No. 73047 (built 1953) are on the Down Pines Express running through very pleasant countryside between Midford and Wellow in September 1961. The Midford Up Distant signal can be seen above the carriages.

The 1O95 reporting code for the Pines Express is probably being displayed on 73047 as the pilot, 75023, will likely come off at Evercreech Junction.

75023 is shown as allocated to Templecombe from September/October 1961 until September/October 1962 and withdrawn in January 1966. Allocation reports vary for 73047 but the loco is shown as being withdrawn in 1964.
