Description

The Up Starter signal at Midsomer Norton South with a porter changing the paraffin lamp on a dull day, probably in spring 1962.

Note the flower basket hanging between the signal post and the ladder – Midsomer Norton South was well-known for its floral displays.

Adjacent to the barrow crossing are two warning signs; ‘L&SWR BEWARE OF TRAINS’ and ‘SOMERSET AND DORSET JOINT LINE – TRESPASSING ON THE RAILWAY’.
