Midsomer Norton South; view from colliery siding past platelayers’ area, 1962

£1.50

Description

A view from part of the way up to the Norton Hill Colliery gate looking past the platelayers’ trolley shed, road bridge and on to the station, probably taken in spring 1962.

In the platelayers’ area is a pair of rails and various scattered sleepers and chairs. Note also an earth mound fronted by a pair of sleepers at the end of the headshunt on the Down East Siding, as the BR section of the colliery siding was known.
