Description

BR Standard Class 3 No. 82002 (built Swindon 1952) – with 82G (Templecombe) shedplate – is seen on the long curve near Milldown, Blandford, with an Up (northbound) passenger service of two carriages plus two milk tanks. This service originated from Bailey Gate.

82002 is shown as being allocated to Templecombe from March/April 1961 until moved to Hereford in September/October 1962. This therefore suggests a date range for the photo. Allocations data suggests an intermediate move or loan but first-hand observations indicate the former scenario.
