Description

Fowler S&D 7F No. 53808 (built 1925 as S&D No. 88) heads an eight-car 1O91 service, the 7.35 am (SO) Birmingham-Bournemouth service, through Moorewood.

A rectangular reporting code board with 1O91 is being displayed. There is no date available for this image, though Trust records show 53808 as the engine on this service on 28 July and 4 August 1962.

53808 is shown as already allocated to Bath Green Park at the time of nationalisation in 1948 and remaining there until withdrawal in April 1964. Arriving at the Woodham Bros. Barry Island scrapyard in August of that year, the locomotive was rescued by the Trust in 1970 and returned to steam in 1987.
