BR ‘Modified Hall’ class -4-6-0 locomotive No. 6979 ‘Helperley Hall’ (allocated 84C Banbury) on a Newcastle to Bournemouth West passenger service, Branksome Triangle. Friday 21 July 1961.
The train is heading down the now-dismantled east chord of the Branksome Triangle. Both viaducts – one on the east chord and the other on the main line – are visible in this picture.
