Description

Fowler S&D 7F No. 53808 (built 1925 as S&D No. 88) is pictured on the Ian Allan Western Sunset railtour just north of Prestleigh on 22 September 1962. See the Six Bells Junction website for more info. on the tour.

53808 is shown as already allocated to Bath Green Park at the time of nationalisation in 1948 and remaining there until withdrawal in April 1964. Arriving at the Woodham Bros. Barry Island scrapyard in August of that year, the locomotive was rescued by the Trust in 1970 and returned to steam in 1987.
