Description
BR Standard Class 4 No. 75023 (built 1953) and BR Standard Class 4 No. 75027 (built 1954) head an Up passenger service which is seen having just passed over the Five Arches between Midsomer Norton and Radstock. The Radstock Up Distant signal behind the train, on the far side of the Five Arches, is ‘off’. To the left of the track can be seen the 10.5 mile milepost.
75023 is shown as allocated to Templecombe from September/October 1961 until September/October 1962 and withdrawn in January 1966. 75027 is shown as being allocated to Templecombe from February 1960 to November 1962. This suggests a date range for the photo of 1961-2. 75027 was subsequently preserved.
