Description

Stanier Black Five No. 44664 (built Crewe 1949) approaches Shillingstone’s Up platform with an Up (Bath-bound) passenger of at least five carriages. Photo taken in 1956, the year the photographer starting taking pictures of the S&D.

44664 was at the time allocated to Saltley and survived right up to May 1968.

Of note is the large sleeper-built platelayers’ hut.
