Description

Stanier Black Five No. 44746 (built Crewe 1948, with 22A Bristol Barrow Road shedplate) pulls into the Up platform at Shillingstone with a passenger service in dull and wet conditions. From the loco allocation, the photo was most likely taken in 1956-7.

A reporting number of 341 is being displayed. Notable in this picture is the ‘square up’ telegraph pole.

The focus in this photo is poor, except for the front of the engine.

44746 is shown as allocated to 22A Bristol Barrow Road from mid-1955 until mid-1957.
