Description

Fowler S&D 7F No. 53800 (built 1914 as S&D No. 80, with 82F Bath Green Park shedplate) passes through Shillingstone with a long train that is almost certainly a through service for Bournemouth. Photo taken in 1959. Notice that the tablet apparatus is extended.

53800 is shown as already allocated to Bath Green Park at the time of nationalisation in 1948 and remaining there until withdrawal in June 1959 – the first of the S&D 7Fs to be withdrawn. The photo was therefore probably taken very shortly before withdrawal.
