Description

Fowler S&D 7F No. 53807 (built 1925 as S&D No. 87) – nearest to the camera – waits at Shillingstone’s Up (Templecombe-bound) platform with a goods service while Johnson 3F Class No. 43194 (built 1896) comes in tender-first with another goods service. A person is stood between the tracks who may be having a conversation with 43194’s footplate crew.

53807 is shown as already allocated to Bath Green Park at the time of nationalisation in 1948 and remaining there until withdrawal in September 1964. 43194 is shown as already allocated to Highbridge upon nationalisation in 1948 and then allocated to Templecombe in October 1949. The loco was withdrawn in December 1960.
