Description
BR Standard Class 5 No. 73049 (built 1953) and BR 4MT class 4-6-0 locomotive No. 75071 (built 1955, and with 82G Templecombe shedplate) are seen passing at Shillingstone station, 75071 with a three carriage Down (Bournemouth-bound) passenger service. No date is given for the photo but from the loco alloactaions 1962-4 is indicated.
The photo has been timed to show the functioning of the tablet exchange apparatus on 75071. The signal box is visible and also note on the right, the hut and perpendicular rails for the local track maintenance trolley. A hand trolley with milk churns can just be seen on the right side of the photo.
73049 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park from June/July 1962 until August-October 1964. 75071 is shown as being allocated to Bath Green Park from mid-1956 and to Templecombe from November 1962. Withdrawn in August 1967.
