Description

BR Standard Class 3 No. 82039 (built Swindon 1955, with 82G Templecombe shedplate) with a passenger/milk service near Shillingstone. The train has two carriages and what looks like one milk tank from Bailey Gate at the rear.

On the left side of the photo is the ladder for the Shillingstone Down Distant signal; the wire can be seen going under the track.

82039 is shown as being allocated to Templecombe from January/February 1959 until August/September 1960. 82039 was withdrawn in July 1965.

The three photos WSHSD_2022_14_044a to c are on one negative strip. From the allocations information for the three pictures, they can be dated to 1959.
