Description
Two BR Standard 9Fs pass with their respective passenger services at Shillingstone in 1960, between March and September/October.
The Up service (facing camera) is headed by No. 92204 which is shown as having entered service in April 1959 and allocated to Bristol St. Philips Marsh until September/October 1960. Accordingly, an 82B shedplate can be seen. The Down service – with footplate crew looking out of the cab – is headed by No. 92205 which is shown as having entered service in May 1959 and also allocated to Bristol St. Philips Marsh until September/October 1960.
Given that the 9Fs were introduced following a trial in March 1960, this indicates a date range for the photo. Note also the signal box.
