Description

BR 4MT class 4-6-0 locomotive No. 75073 (built 1955, with 82F Bath Green Park shedplate) seen on a three-coach Down local service near Shoscombe & Single Hill Halt.

The first numeral of the carriage set number is only just viisble but the whole number is probably 969, a set built in 1946 and disbanded in 1963. 75073 is shown as being allocated to Bath Green Park from 1957 until moved to Templecombe from November 1962 until withdrawn in December 1965/January 1966. The foliage on the trees and the above information suggests summer 1960, ’61 or ’62 for the date of the photo.
