Description

Great Western Collett 2251 Class No. 3218 (built 1947/8, with 82G Templecombe shedplate) is at the head of a long goods service at Stalbridge. However, although the loco is at the Up end, the train is on the Down line. There may be a loco at the other end of the train but it is not possible to confirm this.

As 3218 is wearing an 82G shedplate, this provides a narrow date range for the photo.

3218 is shown as allocated to Templecombe from April to June 1960 (82G) and from December 1963 to withdrawal in May 1965 (recoded to 83G).
