Description

BR Standard Class 5 No. 73028 (built 1951) is at the head of a Bournemouth-Sheffield service on the embankment near Stourpaine. A special smoke display is being provided, almost certainly at the photographer’s request as his notes include ‘with black smoke’. The leading carriage has a carriage board showing ‘Sheffield-Bournemouth’.

73028 is shown as allocated to Bath Green Park from May/June 1958 until June/July 1960 and again from September/October 1960 until April/May 1961.
