Description
Fowler 4F Class No. 44422 (built 1927, with 83G Templecombe shedplate) takes a three-carriage (plus van) Down local passenger service south towards Henstridge. In the background can be seen the Salisbury-Exeter line and in the middle distance is Temple Lane. The wire to the Up Distant signal can be seen; this was positioned 900 yards back from the Home signal positioned just this side of the Salisbury-Exeter line.
44422 is shown as allocated to Templecombe from November/December 1960 until November 1964. 44422 was subsequently preserved.
The shedplate, the allocation and the greenery on the trees dates this photo to 1964.
