Description

Fowler S&D 7F No. 53809 (built 1925 as S&D No. 89) and Bulleid West Country Class No. 34103 Calstock (built 1950) head the 12.20 pm (SO) Bournemouth-Nottingham service near Wellow on 1 September 1962. The last through services over the S&D ran on 8 September.

The use of of an S&D 7F to assist a through service was by this time an unusual occurrence.

53809 is shown as already allocated to Bath Green Park at the time of nationalisation in 1948 and remaining there until withdrawal in May/June 1964. 34103 is shown as allocated to Bournemouth from around the end of 1960 and then to Eastleigh from August/September 1964 until withdrawal in September 1965.
