Following a long Trust tradition, a wreath was laid at the S&DJR Highbridge Works war memorial in Southwell Gardens, Highbridge.
The memorial lists not only the 13 staff who did not survive the war, but also 153 who did return. According to newspaper reports at the time, the bronze memorial – unveiled in 1922 – was designed by a Highbridge apprentice and made at the Works.
The memorial moved to Southwell Gardens in 1965 and was given Grade II listed status in 2017.
